[CAVE641] John Cave (born c.1747) married (at Gretton, 29th October 1776) [HIBB642] Elizabeth Hibbens (born 1744, see HIBBENS), both of Duddington, witnessed by William Cave (presumably John's brother) and John Cardinall (parish clerk).

Duddington Church (30 April 2016) |
They had three children born and baptised Duddington as follows:
[CAVE652] Jane (baptised 17th January 1778), married Joseph Smith, see later;
John (baptised 2nd January 1780), married (at Belton, 25th November 1805) Hannah Branson, witnessed by Jane Smith (John's married sister) and Wm. Billing. John died at Wootton (buried there 4th July 1818), and Anne died at Wootton also (buried there 26th November 1854);
Eustace (baptised 15th September 1782).
John died (age 60) at Caldecott (buried there 27th July 1821 NBI), and Elizabeth died (age 74) at Caldecott also (buried there 3rd October 1821). Presumably Elizabeth was actually 77 when she died, so had probably removed 3 years, suggesting she was hiding the fact that she was older than her husband. John's age suggests he could have been born as late as 1760-61, which would have been unusual; but in any case not too much reliance should be placed on ages at death, for one reason or another. A possible baptism for John Cave is 28th October 1748 at Uppingham (son of Robert & Alice).
[CAVE652] Jane Cave (born 1778, daughter of John) married (at Caldecott, 24th September 1798) [SMT651] Joseph Smith (born 1775, see SMITH).
