John died at Catholes (buried at Sedbergh, 5th July 1677).

After his first wife died, John married 2. (at Sedbergh, 11th May 1672) Jane Wodhouse. They had at least four children baptised at Sedbergh as follows:

John (born at Amott Holme, baptised 30th September 1677);
Richard (born at Amot Holme, baptised 12th November 1682), died at Amatt-holme (buried at Sedbergh, 28th February 1701-02);
Jeffrey (born at Amatholme, baptised 5th August 1688).
Jane "late wife of John Hadwen late of Cattholes in Marthwaite", was buried at Sedbergh (22nd February 1684-85); and John (who was a black smith) died at Amatholme (buried at Sedbergh, 6th May 1691).
