MARSHALL

The evidence for the following down to Patience is circumstantial and cannot be proved.

There were two girls named Patience Marshall at the beginning of the 18th Century. It is assumed they were related.

11.  [MARH591] John Marshall married 1. Martha ---. Together they had four children born at Stanningley and baptised at Calverley as follows:

• Thomas (baptised 9th October 1664), married (at Calverley, 17th July 1689) Lydia Turner. They had a daughter Patience, born about 1699, who died at Stanningley (buried at Calverley, 28th March 1701);

• 10. [MARH601] John (baptised 6th March 1666-67), married Mary Garth, see later;

• Anne (baptised 6th July 1673), died at Stanningley (buried at Calverley, 11th September 1674).

• unnamed infant died at Stanningley (buried at Calverley, 15th April 1677).

Martha, shown as "wife of John", died at Stanningley (buried at Calverley, 6th March 1677-78). Afterwards John married 2. (at Calverley, 23rd September 1679) Mary Waide. They had three children born at Stanningley and baptised at Calverley as follows:

• Mary (baptised 19th September 1680).

• John  baptised 15th April 1683);

• James (baptised 18th October 1685);

10.  [MARH601] John (born 1667) married (at Calverley, 2nd May 1689) Mary Garth. They had six children as follows:

• William (born at Stanningley, baptised at Calverley, 30th September 1694);

• 9. [MARH612] Patience (born at Bramley, 27th July 1696, baptised same day at Leeds, St. Peter), married Benjamin Coates, see later;

• Sarah (born at White-cote, 18th March 1699, baptised at Leeds, St. Peter, 29th March 1699);

• John (born at White-cote, 14th November 1700, baptised at Leeds, St. Peter, 29th November 1700);

• Anne (born at White-cote, 20th December 1702, baptised at Leeds, St. Peter, 4th January 1702-03);

• Abraham (born at White-cote, 9th May 1705, baptised at Leeds, St. Peter, 17th June 1705).

John died at Stanningley (buried at Calverley, 3rd December 1712), and Mary died at Stanningley also (buried at Calverley, 25th August 1720).
