PALAEOLOGI

The originator of this family was a Byzantine Jew, named John, who took the surname Palaeologus. Interestingly one direct descendant (ten generations later) inherited the same Empire which had earlier conquered their ancestral home. This was EMPEROR MICHAEL VIII (1261-82). Even earlier, [PALG352] Irene (below) had married Isaac II Angelus who afterwards became EMPEROR ISAAC II (1185).
