9.     [STNG611] Humphrey Stangar (possibly from Harringworth) married 1. (at Barrowden, 30th November 1676) Joan Allen. Joan died at Barrowden (buried there 20th May 1682), and afterwards Humphrey married 2. (c.1682-84) Mary. Humphrey and Mary had nine children born and baptised at Barrowden as follows:

• William (baptised 14th September 1684);

• 8. [STNG621] John (baptised 28th November 1686), married Elizabeth Oliver, see later;

• Thomas (baptised 22nd April 1689), died (age 6 months) at Barrowden (buried there 21st October 1689);

• Alice (baptised 9th June 1690);

• Mary (baptised 26th March 1693), died [age 23] at Barrowden (buried there 23rd April 1716);

• Humphrey (baptised 2nd January 1695-96), married Mary;

• Elizabeth (baptised 10th April 1699), died (age 1 year) at Barrowden (buried there 1st May 1700);

• Ann (baptised 11th May 1701);

• Thomas (baptised 7th September 1704), died (age 4 months) at Barrowden (buried there 26th January 1705).

Humphrey, a slater, died at Barrowden (buried there 10th May 1710). He left three houses, one each to his surviving sons William, John and Humphrey.

8.     [STNG621] John Stangar (born 1686, son of Humphrey & Mary). John (shown as being of Barrowden) married (at Thorpe Malsor, Northants, 25th February 1711-12) [OLIV622] Elizabeth Oliver. (Thorpe Malsor is about 20 miles from Barrowden.) They had eleven children born and baptised at Barrowden as follows:

• Elizabeth (baptised 30th November 1712);

• John (baptised 4th July 1714);

• William (baptised 5th March 1715-16);

• 7. [STNG631] Humphrey (baptised 22nd November 1719), married Susanna Clarke, see later;

• Robert (baptised 26th December 1721), married Elizabeth;

• Thomas (baptised 27th October 1723), married (at Seaton, 5th October 1746) Elizabeth Mason;

• Oliver (baptised 25th February 1724-25);

• Mathew (baptised 19th June 1727), died (age 2 months) at Barrowden (buried there 31st August 1727);

• Mathew (baptised 20th July 1728), died soon after (buried at Barrowden, 22nd July 1728);

• James (baptised 2nd December 1729), died (age 9) at Barrowden (buried there 15th November 1738);

• Samuel (baptised 23rd May 1731), died (age 6 weeks) at Barrowden (buried there 10th July 1731).

John died at Barrowden (buried there 22nd June 1745), and Elizabeth died at Barrowden also (buried there 26th June 1748).

7.     [STNG631] Humphrey Stangar (born 1719) married (at Lyddington, 5th October 1746) [CLRK632] Susanna Clarke (born c.1723, see CLARKE). They had four children born at Thorpe-by-Water and baptised at Lyddington as follows:

• James (baptised 1st June 1755);

• Arabella (baptised 23rd April 1758), married (at Lyddington, 30th November 1780) Samuel Exton, witnessed by John Manton and William Walker (parish clerk). The family went to live at Barrowden, where their eldest child (Oliver) was born in 1781;

• Oliver (baptised 15th October 1760), married (at Gretton, 4th November 1781) Elizabeth Latimore, witnessed by Wm Woodcock and John Cardinall (parish clerk);

• 6. [STNG642] Mary (baptised 30th March 1766), married George Wade, see later.

Susanna died at Thorpe, and was buried at Lyddington (2nd December 1780).
