WADDINGTON

IGI denotes details extracted from International Genealogical Index, but not checked at source

[WADD621] George Waddington m. Margaret
. [WADD631] Robert Waddington m2. [GUTT632] Elizabeth Gutteridge
. . [WADD642] Mary Waddington m. [STUB641] John Stubs

8.  [WADD621] George Waddington and his wife Margaret had at least one child, baptised at Edith Weston as follows:

7. [WADD631] Robert (baptised 1st October 1723 IGI), married 2. Elizabeth Gutteridge, see later.

Robert's surname was variously Waddington or Warrington, as indicated below:

7.    [WADD631] Robert [Warrington] and his first [unknown] wife had one child baptised at Buckminster as follows:

Robert Waddington and [GUTT632] Elizabeth Gutteridge had their Banns of Marriage published at Medbourne-cum-Holt, on 31st December 1758, 7th and 14th January 1759. They were both shown as of this [Medbourne] parish. Robert Warrington married 2. (at Medbourne, 14th January 1759) Elizabeth Gutteridge, witnessed by Edward Corby and Josiah Smith. Robert Warrington signed his name thus, which raises the question was his name really Waddington or Warrington, and did he have a speech impediment.

The witness Edward Corby had married (at Stoke Albany [5 miles from Medbourne], 19th July 1752 IGI) Esther Phrisby, whilst Josiah Smith was a Medbourne person, who possibly never married.

Elizabeth Gutteridge's marital status is not stated. No suitable baptism has been found, but she may have been a widow.

Robert had two further children as follows:

St. Mary's Church at North Witham (Lincs) (only 4 miles from Buckminster, Leics) has unusual features,  suggested as perhaps because of the early connection with Countess Judith (see LENS COUNTY), though with such a large number of manors in her possession, spread over ten counties, she probably never visited North Witham.

Elizabeth Waddington (wife of Robert) died at Sewston (buried at Buckminster, 16th December 1789), and afterwards Robert [Waddington] of Sewston married 3. (at Buckminster, 24th May 1792) Ann Rose (widow, nee Tomlin, born at Great Casterton, 1756), witnessed by Nicholas Broom (born at Buckminster, 1736) and John Stubbs (Robert's son-in-law). Ann Waddington died at Buckminster (buried there 31st August 1805), and Robert Waddington died at Buckminster also (buried there 20th October 1810).
